Juvenile Hospitalized After Brooklyn Park Shooting; Suspect at Large |
Police Investigate Shooting on Garwood Road, Victim in Stable Condition |
A juvenile is currently receiving medical care following a shooting incident in Brooklyn Park on Wednesday evening.
According to the Brooklyn Park Police Department, officers were dispatched around 5:15 p.m. to the 5900 block of Garwood Road after reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, they discovered a juvenile male lying in the street with a gunshot wound.
The victim was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
In response, law enforcement established a perimeter and initiated a K-9 search for the suspect, who had reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active.
This incident adds to a series of recent shootings in Brooklyn Park.
Notably, in November 2024, a 17-year-old was fatally shot outside an apartment complex on Regent Avenue North.
Investigations revealed that 'ghost guns'—firearms assembled from parts without serial numbers—were used in that shooting.
Two juveniles were arrested in connection with the case.
In a separate incident in June 2023, a 19-year-old man was shot and killed in a residential neighborhood on Thomas Avenue North.
Police learned of the shooting when the victim arrived at Unity Hospital in Fridley with a gunshot wound to the chest.
These events have raised concerns among residents about the prevalence of gun violence in the area.
Community leaders and law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information about these incidents to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigations.
Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of community cooperation in addressing and preventing further violence.
Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the Brooklyn Park Police Department.
As the investigation into Wednesday's shooting progresses, updates will be provided to the public.
Community members are reminded to stay vigilant and prioritize safety. |
