Juvenile Hospitalized After Brooklyn Park Shooting; Suspect at Large

A juvenile is recovering after being shot Wednesday evening in Brooklyn Park.

Police responded around 5:15 p.m. to gunfire near the 5900 block of Garwood Road.

Officers found a young male victim in the street with a gunshot wound, who is now in stable condition at a local hospital.

The suspect had already fled the scene, prompting a K-9 search and an ongoing investigation.

No arrests have been made at this time.

This incident comes amid a troubling rise in gun violence in Brooklyn Park.

Recent shootings include a fatal attack on a 17-year-old last November on Regent Avenue North, involving 'ghost guns,' and the death of a 19-year-old in June 2023 on Thomas Avenue North.

Authorities urge residents to share any information and remain alert as investigations continue.

Community safety remains a top priority.

Brooklyn Park Police Alert Residents to Recent Vehicle Thefts in Hartkopf Neighborhood

Brooklyn Park officials are urging residents in the Hartkopf neighborhood to stay alert following a wave of vehicle break-ins.

Inspector Matt Rabe from the Brooklyn Park Police Department warns that many targeted cars were left unlocked in poorly lit areas, often with valuables visible and easily accessible.

Early Tuesday, several vehicles near Hartkopf Park were burglarized, with items stolen, including a firearm from an unlocked car—a theft that especially alarmed police due to the risk it poses.

Authorities advise residents to remove valuables, avoid leaving firearms in cars, park where it’s well lit, and always lock doors to prevent future crimes.

Those with home security cameras in the area are asked to review footage for suspicious activity and share findings with police.

Community participation in Neighborhood Watch and other police programs is encouraged to help curb these incidents.
